Meet Sargon Maradkel

How long have you been teaching for?

Twelve years in total. Nine years in middle school/junior high and three years in high school.

What is your favorite class to teach?

English Language Arts. I love to teach students the power of words through writing, reading, speaking, and listening.

What is your favorite part of teaching?

Mentoring and inspiring my students. I treat my students like young adults, with love and respect, to earn their trust and inspire them to grow both academically and personally.

Who was your favorite teacher as a child?

Donald C. Jones. Mr. Jones was my seventh-grade teacher in Chicago, and he saw in me what I did not see in myself at the time. He was intelligent, inspiring, caring, and humorous. He believed in me, and it made the biggest difference. I aim to be for my students what he was for me.

Here is a photo of Donald C. Jones and me when I was a teen and then 25 years later when we reconnected.

What do you look most forward to about teaching at Grace Academy?

I look forward to God receiving the glory from everything I do for my students at Grace.

I look forward to being the very best teacher I can be for my Lord and for my students.

I look forward to facilitating my students’ growth in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52).
